CARE

Like all natural fibers, silk can last for many years if it’s cared for properly.  The best cleaning solution would be dry-cleaning. But if you can’t afford that, the alternate solution will be laundered by hand in cold water.

1. A few drops of gentle liquid detergent can be added and worked into a sudsy mix.

2. Place your silk pieces inside, rub and squeeze gently for three to five minutes, and then rinse completely.

3. Do not soak your silk garment too long in water.

4. Do not use bleach. 5. In the first few cleanings you will see some dye in the water but it is normal with hand-dyed silk. That is why do not mix pieces with different colors in a single batch.

NOTE: Strictly dry-cleaning only with all the products with decorated details like : embroidery, hand-drawing, pieces with multiple fabrics,… Once clean, rinse detergent and gently squeeze out some of the remaining water.

1. Avoid twisting or wringing silk, as this can cause substantial damage.

2. Avoid using the dryer!

3. Lay pieces on a clean, absorbent towel and roll up to remove moisture.

4. Unroll, place in a fresh, dry towel, and repeat.

5.Once the water has been removed, you can place your silk pieces flat on a drying rack or over a towel to air-dry.

6. Avoid direct sunlight.

IRON YOUR SILK

1. Smooth out your silk by ironing it inside out on the lowest temperature setting while the garment is still a bit damp.

2. Place a piece of pressing cloth or a towel between the iron and the silk until you’ve found the right temperature to avoid burning your fabric.

STORAGE YOUR SILK

1. For everyday storage, hang silk items in your closet on textured or velvet-coated hangers. This will prevent items from slipping off and crumpling to the floor. Use a wide bar for gently hanging silk pants.

2. For seasonal storage, when packing items away for the season, know that moths will snack on natural fibers if left uncovered. Clean clothes before storing and place them in breathable canvas garment bags.
